Social Pharmacy applies the social and behavioural sciences to the use of medicines and the delivery of healthcare. It examines how cultural, economic, psychological and public health factors influence medication practices, health outcomes and the role of pharmacists in society.

The Department of Social Pharmacy at Krishna Institute of Pharmacy prepares students to participate in health education, disease prevention, national health programmes and community-based pharmaceutical care. Learning includes patient communication, health screening, epidemiology, rational medicine use and awareness of social determinants of health.

The Social Pharmacy learning facility is arranged for patient counselling demonstrations, community health surveys, health education activities and basic screening exercises. Students use public health models, information resources and diagnostic aids to develop communication, documentation and community outreach skills.
